THE LAYOUT

The Concours is on the Stanford Campus between Sand Hill Road and Oak Road, near Stanford Hospital. Click HERE for a map of the area. You may park in the parking structure labeled Parking Structure 5. This photo shows the the south side of the parking structure.

This Acrobat File shows the layout of the field with a Legend idenfifying where things are on the field. Note, that on Oak Road, there will be barriers at either end of the field that blocks cars from driving through. Cars that are in the show will, of course, be allowed through.

WHAT WE WILL BE DOING

As of the Concours meeting on 6/11, this is what we will be doing (any of this is subject to change).

  • On the field, our usual patroling and monitoring the fences on the Stock Farm end of the field and the fence along Sand Hill in the area of Pasteur.
  • Assist traffic and crowd control during the procession of winning cars. The best of show cars will be first in the 1 PM time frame followed by the best of the several classes of cars. We will be needed during both parts, and be located downstream of the ramp to help with crowd control as the cars go back to their original positions.
  • We need to be aware of any problems we see, like injuries or other things that need to be handled.

NET CONTROL

Net Control will need 2 people to monitor our GMRS radio and the 2 FRS channels. The FRS radios that the Lions staff will be using have 2 channels: Channel A is FRS 1, Channel B is FRS 8, no tones. Channel A is their primary channel B used for person to person conversations. Unit 8 will have 2 FRS radios for us to monitor at the booth. If you have an FRS radio, bring it.

When you are at the booth, please be quiet so the NC operators can hear the frequencies we monitor.

Log all of our calls as well as traffic we hear on the FRS frequencies. There will be a third FRS channel for the group that is handling the parade of cars. I will get that channel number Sunday.

Emergency phone number to PA dispatch is 650-329-2413.

HOW AND WHEN TO GET THERE

We will be setting up at about 7 am Sunday morning inside the Concours area to the left of the main entrance, along the fence (See the map). The Concours ends at about 4:30 pm. We will need 3 or so people at 7am to start fence patrol. The morning group should plan to arrive between 7 and 7:30am.

When you arrive, go directly to the Volunteer booth (along the Oak fence to the right of the entrance) and check in there. They should have your name with the Blackberry REACT list. You will be asked to sign a release. Then come to the Blackberry Booth to get a radio.

From El Camino, turn onto San Hill Road, which on the right side of Stanford shopping center as you face the shopping center. Proceed toward Stanford campus on Sand Hill to Stock Farm Road (there is a signal there). Turn left onto Stock Farm.

You will come to Oak Road, and if you turned left, you would enter the Concours area. However, there will be a gate there to register and let in cars that will be on display. Continue down Stock Farm Road and on the left you will see a driveway entrance to the parking lot. Go in there and drive along the back side of the Parking structure and enter the parking structure.

From 280, take the Sand Hill turn-off and go toward Stanford Campus. On Sand Hill go to Stock Farm Road and turn right. See the directions above in the second paragraph for El Camino for additional instructions.

Going north-west on Junipero Serra Blvd., turn right on Campus Drive West and go to Stock Farm Rd. Turn left on Stock Farm Rd. and turn into the driveway behind the parking structure (it should be the 3rd driveway on the right) and park there.

From the north going south-east on Alameda de Las Plugas and then Santa Cruz Ave., turn left onto Sand Hill Road and proceed toward Stanford Campus to Stock Farm Road. Turn right onto Stock Farm Road and follow directions in the second paragraph under El Camino.
